House hunting

Brandon and I have been weighing our options of buying here in SoCal. We could get atleast twice as much back home for the price we pay and land! But Brandon is going to do his 20 and that means atleast 10 more years till we move back home.

We both don't want to wait 10+ years before we buy and now is the perfect timing! We have been looking for awhile and aren't sure if we want to buy somewhat close to base and get less house (and older!) or move north and get a "dream house" that comes along with a nightmare commute everyday for Brandon.

A few chiefs live north and all carpool down to Point Loma, Brandon could get in on this saving us greatly on gas and with his sea schedule he is pretty much gone till next summer allowing us to invest in a home rather than throw our BAH away living in housing.

Okay now that I got through all that...I think I found "the one!" I've seen it before but it was when we were kinda playing with the idea and Brandon was still wanting to do shore duty in Hawaii, now that we plan to stay here atleast for another 5 years (I'm hoping till he gets out) I keep going back to it.

I'm going next week for a showing to see if the pictures do it justice, till then here is a sneak peek for you

Just a little advice...you and Brandon should sit down with a financial advisor before jumping into buying a house. there are a lot of hidden costs when buying a house that have to be paid monthly along with your house payment. like insurance, property taxes, school taxes, etc. If Jimmy and I had bought a house that was as much as we were approved for, we would have done lost it by now. I am so glad we bought a house that was $40,000 less than what we were approved for because the hidden costs sure surprised us. Just trying to look out for y'all. Hope you don't take this the wrong way. But it would really suck to get into a house you thought you could afford, and then find out you can't afford it and it be foreclosed. There is so much of that going on so just be smart and seek advice from a financial advisor. You can get free financial advice through the Navy. Please seek it.
